The Housing Authority has continued to work with HUD in the modernization of the existing housing.  In order to expand the available resources, the Housing Authority continues to perform the modernization work with its own work force.

Employment opportunities are given to Public Housing and Section 8 residents with modernization activities.  With the unemployment rate at 10 percent in the City of El Paso, job training opportunities are an effort to maintain the economy.  The personnel employed with the modernization crews continue to be provided with training so that they can provide high quality work and become competitive in the job market when the program is completed.
