Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Housing Choice Voucher Program, or Section 8 as it is more commonly known, provides rental assistance vouchers to more than 5,000 low-income families. The advantage of the HCV Program is that qualified recipients select the home of their choice, which is owned and maintained by a private property owner. A housing subsidy is paid to the property owner directly by HACEP on behalf of the participating family. The family then pays the difference between the actual rent charged by the property owner and the amount of their voucher. This provides a guaranteed source of income for property owners while ensuring their dwellings comply with our stringent health and safety regulations. Applications for the HCV Program must be submitted through HACEP’s online pre-application system upon opening of the Wait List.
